Sophia Phoenix - Developmental Therapist/Owner

Sophia Phoenix has a degree in child development and family relations with over 12 years experience working with the special needs population as a developmental therapist an extensive background in behavior management, which includes atypical behaviors. Sophia also has a strong background with speech and language delays and with sensory integration issues. In addition she has taught nurturing and parenting classes and also served as a director of an all-inclusive daycare. Sophia also has her infant-toddler certification with the state. She works well with parents and caregivers and truly enjoys being a therapist.

Anita S. Vass - Developmental Therapist/Owner

Anita S. Vass has her NC Infant-Toddler Certification and a BA degree in Intermediate Education with over 27 years of experience working with the special need population.  Anita has worked as a teacher for Head Start, Sara Barker center, a developmental therapist with the PPACT Team and Baby S.T.E.P.S.

 Anita’s passion is working with children that are medically fragile.  Anita has a strong background in working with children that has Down syndrome, speech/language, gross motor, cognitive delays and behavior concerns.  She works well with parents, caregivers and child service coordinators.  She can be reached at (919) 812-4285.

Infant and Toddler Family Specialist with a B. S. degree in Child Development from Meredith College and her Infant-toddler certification with the state . Knowledge and expertise include global delays in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, language, physical development and providing care/early intervention for infant/preemies.  Provided newborn hearing screens with Wake Med hospital. She has over five years of experience with the infant/toddler population which includes a background in providing care for infants from birth to ages three in inclusive and non-inclusive daycare settings. She also has over three years of experience in the early intervention field.

Margarita Tobón - Developmental Therapist

Margarita Tobon is a bilingual developmental therapist with Developmental Therapy Outreach Services. Margarita Tobon obtained her bachelors degree in education from Antioquia University in the city of Medellin, Colombia. Margarita worked as a counselor for 16 years in her country with different programs from childhood to adulthood. She spent 6 years working in a daycare 4 years with the Even start program where she worked guiding families with their special needs. With the children she acted as a support for their physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual developmental. She also posses a strong background in developmental therapy and has her Infant-toddler certification with the state.

Tandra Shepard-Henderson - Developmental Therapist

Tandra was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1995. She has worked with 'special needs' children for 14 years. I have provided services for the children with Developmental Disabilities for over 5 years; 3 years in as Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) and 2 years as a case-manger for children of adolescents with identified developmental delays. She has a year of experience as an Elementary School Guidance Counselor with job duties including psychological assessment interpretation.

Laura Alison Williams - Developmental Therapist

Alison Stephens graduated from Meredith College in 2007 with a BA in Psychology. While in school, she spent 3 years with the Meredith Autism Program and was fully trained as an ABA therapist for toddlers. She has worked with infants and toddlers using behaviorism and early intervention strategies in homes, daycares, and preschools. She is also knowledgeable about child development in the following areas: social, cognitive, motor, communication, emotional, and behavioral. Her experience and expertise includes working with young children with global developmental delays, autism, down syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder, cerebral palsy, primordial dwarfism, sensory integration disorder, microcephaly, preemies, behavioral problems, and other learning disabilities or delays. With over 5 years of experience, Alison is passionate about helping children and families in their natural environments.

Vanessa Henderson - Developmental Therapist

Vanessa Henderson was educated at Prairie View A&M University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a emphasis in Juvenile Justice, Vanessa felt she could best serve the youth on the education field and returned to college to become a teacher. She then became certified to teach as an Elementary teacher serving children with various developmental abilities and levels.

Prior to obtaining her current position Vanessa taught in the public school system in both Texas and Both Carolina teaching from Early Childhood to Fifth Grade for six years. She was able to provide special; education and special developmental needs children to children a thriving learning environment alongside of leveled students.

She has also worked as a Child Care Teacher and Assistant Director for two daycares in Texas. These positions afforded her the opportunity to gain the experience of working with infants through school-aged children. Vanessa expanded her experience with working with special needs infants, preschoolers, and school-ages.
